Presenting 'cap and share': a significant new proposal for funding climate justice, and exploring its potential impacts in Asia and Pacific
Where could the money come from to fund climate action, reparations and redistribution in every country? And how can we ensure that climate mitigation and climate justice can proceed hand in hand?
Cap and share is a mitigation and redistributive finance system that aims to provide part of the answer. It offers a radical but practical solution that could halt fossil fuel extraction, fund a global green transition, and return extracted wealth to communities all over the world.
Equal Right will present their new discussion paper – 'Climate Justice Without Borders: Cap and share as a mitigation and climate finance solution'. The team will be joined by a panel of Asia and Pacific-based climate justice experts and activists to respond to the proposal and provide insights as to how cap and share could impact their communities.
The discussants confirmed for our panel are as follows:
Asha Amirali - University of Bath
Rahul Basu - The Goa Foundation
Kato Ewekia - Saving Tuvalu
Emeline Siale Ilolahia - PIANGO
Harjeet Singh - Climate Action Network International
The panel will be chaired by Equal `Right's Campaigns & Operations Director, Dr Patrick Brown
